  • Levi Hospital closed after many years of planning and review. Parts of the building dated back to 1914, and the cost to fix the plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems was very high—nearly the cost of building a new hospital. While plans for a new hospital were considered, uncertainty around future healthcare payments and a closer look at community needs led the Board to choose a different path.   • The Levi Community Foundation is a nonprofit organization created from Levi Hospital’s legacy. Instead of running a hospital, the Foundation works to improve community health by financially supporting other local nonprofits and program development.

    • Behavioral health services

    • Social determinants of health, such as housing stability, access to care, and supportive services

    These focus areas were informed by years of hospital experience and identified gaps in community services.

  • No. The Levi Community Foundation does not provide direct patient care or operate clinical services. Instead, it supports nonprofits and partners working to improve health and stability across the community.

  • The Foundation is structured as an endowment. Investment income from the endowment is used primarily to provide grants to qualified nonprofit organizations serving Garland County.

  • Yes. All donor funds continue to be used responsibly and in alignment with Levi’s charitable mission. Stewardship of donor intent remains a top priority.

  • Yes. Monthly gifts and gifts made in honor or memory of loved ones continue to directly support the Foundation’s mission and grantmaking efforts.

  • The Foundation is currently establishing policies and procedures and planning for future grant cycles. More detailed information about grant opportunities will be shared publicly as it becomes available.
